A Croc's Tale

by Louise Moffat 5. June 2011 04:09

Croc Donovan joined Smarter Barter five months ago. With increasing competition from high street car wash/cafes, Croc wanted to use the trade income to pay for things to save cash and boost his cash business.

Income $3070

• Generated from 14 x Car/ 4WD details

Spend $2857.60

• Car detailing cleaning products from Chemical Cleaning Solutions $787.60

• Website, design and hosting $600

• Printing – business cards, brochures and flyers 970 Minuteman Press and COB Printing

• Advertising $500

Next on the shopping list is a commercial car steam cleaner to replace the current one. Tony from Britec has organised Croc a brand new model on full trade. I asked Croc how much it cost to generate his Smarter Barter dollars. His reply was typical Croc: “Well, I fit in the trade jobs between my cash jobs, so I haven’t lost any cash sales. In fact, I’ve had three new cash jobs from fellow Smarters’ referrals!

“Croc detailed my car - he did a great job! He is coming back to do Christies. He worked on my car for 9 hours; full detail, amazing job” – Shirley, The Hair Shack

Smarter Barter charges Croc $0 for their services. On July 1 we will introduce a 3% T$ fee to Members. This will mean we will not charge cash; but our own currency will be used to pay the Members that run Smarter Barter.

Bettina Crisp, Director, Smarter Barter

Bettina has 17 years experience in the advertising industry as an operations consultant, business manager and project manager, specialising in ROI, company mergers, profit generation and resource utilisation.

During this time, she was instrumental in organising large scale contra deals between media and industry (manufacturers, retailers, importers etc). Her passion for 'bartering' has resulted in the research and ultimately release of Smarter Barter to offer a cost effective and dynamic alternative way for small/ medium businesses to benefit from the age old barter methods, with a twist! Not bad for a country girl from Griffith.
